Prayer Letter March ( Easter)2024
Dear Prayer Partners:
“He is not here, He is risen”
Luke 24: 25
The incredible truth of Easter is the resurrection- that Jesus rose from the dead.
A beautiful part of the Easter story is that the first person to whom Jesus revealed himself after the resurrection was Mary Magdalene. Mary was a troubled woman from whom Jesus had delivered 7 demons. Mary subsequently became a devoted follower of Jesus, who, along with other women, helped to provide for the needs of Jesus and the disciples. Mary was there at the crucifixion and at the burial of Jesus. Unlike most others she never deserted Jesus during his great ordeal.
After the Sabbath while it was still dark Mary was the first person to visit the tomb of Jesus and saw the stone had been removed. She ran back to get Peter and John who entered the now empty tomb. While they returned to tell the others Mary stood weeping outside the tomb. It was there in her distress that Jesus came and revealed himself to her. Jesus said “Mary” and Mary clung to him. It is a beautiful and deeply moving moment.
In a way Mary had already experienced the resurrection when through the healing and deliverance that Jesus brought her she had entered into a new life of faith, love and peace. Her life was transformed from the darkness of evil into the light of Jesus. It was this experience that motivated her to stay with Jesus through the horrors of crucifixion. Her belief in Jesus was deep and real.
